Building A Profitable Website From Start To Finish Tutorial (Part 3)

Posted by Paddy | May 24, 2009.

Welcome back everyone! Glad you could make it.

Today we are going to choose just one niche for our very first money making website. By now, you should have 5 potental niches as we discussed in Building A Profitable Website From Start To Finish Tutorial (Part 2). Our next step is to choose just one of these.

Analysing and choosing our niche

Our aim now is to select a niche that gets plenty of visitors from the search engines such as Google and Yahoo. We do this by using a free tool called Gtrends. Again, if you have read my eBook Sleep Money System then you will know how to use this tool already. If you haven’t I will give you a brief tutorial.

Gtrends allows us to check if a particular niche is profitable or not. Let me correct myself. Gtrends, gives us an indication of how profitable a niche is by estimating (using data from the search engines) how many visitors we will get for our particular search term. A search term is the text that a person types into the google or yahoo search box. If we have chosen ‘Red Cotton Socks’ as our niche, then we need to check what search terms a person uses to find ‘Red Cotton Socks’. It maybe that they use the exact phrase ‘Red Cotton Socks’ or something very similar to this. Lets find out…

Go to the Gtrends website and type in ‘Red Cotton Socks’. You will notice that the results come back as ‘red cotton socks ladies’.

gtrends-example-1

To the left of this there is the number 1. This means that there are 1 searches per month for this search term. Now click on the bar graph on the right. This gives you a little more information on the search term.

gtrends-example-21

You will notice that Gtrends reports that there is zero competition for this search term and the expected number of visits per day will be around 18. As this is just an example and as such, it’s probably not a good niche to use as you will not get many vistors. I am however, going to use this niche for the rest of the tutorials.

If this was a beter niche, Gtrends would list a series of related keywords that match your niche. We need to choose the related search term that gets the most searches AND the most daily visits. Once we have analysed the 5 niches we chose from the last tutorial, we need to choose just one for our new website. This will be based on the data we have extracted from Gtrends. The niche with the best search term results and daily visits will be the one we choose. Again, check out my eBook for more information on how to do this.

Compiling our keyword list & ordering by importance

Our next step is to extract all the keywords (search terms) from Gtrends that match our niche. If you typed ‘Red Cotton Socks’ into Gtrends then it will only have displayed one. However, normally you will have 100+ results in the list. Copy all these and copy them into a spread sheet. I normally have one spreadsheet per website so I can keep track of which keywords I am using for which one. Next, order they keywords by the number of searches per month. The one with the highest number of searches will be our primary keyword. The rest will be secondary keywords which we will use to help drive visitors to our new website. Our primary key word will be used when we purhase our domain name.

Until the next tutorial, have a play around with the tools I have given you so far. You will need to use these on a regular basis if you are going to be building money making websites. Don’t worry, they will become second nature to you soon!

Building A Profitable Website From Start To Finish Tutorial (Part 2)

Posted by Paddy | May 24, 2009.

Alrighty then. Lets get started and begin to build our network of money making websites. We are going to cover the following during this tutorial: -

  • Choosing our niche

I would like to start this tutorial to explain how we will be monetising our websites. Well, we will be using two monitising methods. #1 eBay affiliate program and #2 Adsense.

#1 eBay Affiliate Program

One of my big earners at the moment is the eBay Affiliate Program. This is where I get commission on eBay sales. This means I do not have to sell my own product or deal with the customer directly. I get commision when other people sell their product. This is all automated and I don’t need to do anything once my websites have been built and promoted in the apropriate mannor. Just the odd tweak once every month or two. Sound good? You bet ya!

#1 Adsense

When you start getting into affiliate marketing you will soon realise that there are two types of visitor to your websites. #1 A customer who is ready to buy something and #2 A vistor who is not really in the buying mode but just browsing. Our second monitising program is targeted at these types of vistors. Basically, we display Google Ads on our websites and we get paid everytime somebody clicks.

So these are the two monitising methods we are going to use on our network of money making websites.

Ok, so we need to start thinking about our first website. If you have purchased my Sleep Money System eBook you will already have learned how to pick a niche. If you havn’t read it I would highly recommend doing this first as you will then have a head start.

Choosing a profitable niche

I suggest we choose an easy niche initially as this will be our very first money making website. We need to choose a niche that does not have much competition. Choosing something like ‘iPods’ or ‘iPhones’ would be just silly as it would be very difficult for our new website to rank in the search engines for these search terms. We need to find something a little less ‘Popular’ but still be profitable.

One of the free tools I use is eBay Pulse. This is a tool to allow you to see whats currently hot within eBay. I use this information to find out what niche to target on my website. At the time of writing this post ‘Mobile Phones’ is the number 1 most searched after term on eBay.

Before you rush out and start building a website all about mobile phones, remember what I said about not picking a niche that is too hard?

What we can do at this point is to choose something releated to mobile phones but not mobile phones themselves. For example, if I search eBay for ‘mobile phone covers’ you can see that there is quite a lot of them for sale.

If we are going to be clever here, we would then ‘niche down’ a bit further and maybe choose ‘mobile phone covers nokia’ as our niche. Why do this? well, it’s simple, the more we drill down, the easier it will be to get our website’s to rank highly in the search engines for our particular niche.

At this point, you need to choose what niche you will be targeting before we move onto the next chapter. I suggest you pick at least 5 different niches as we will be analysing them to see which is the best one to use for our first website. We will do this by checking the amount of expected vistors to our niche by using another free tool.

A few exmple niche’s you might choose is ‘red cotton socks’ or ‘green electric guitars’

NOTE: Don’t pick the niches above because if everyone who reads these tutorials build the same websites then nobody is going to make any money!

Ok guys and gals, go forth and choose at lease 5 potential niches ready for the next tutorial. We will be selecting just one for our new website!

Building A Profitable Website From Start To Finish Tutorial (Part 1)

Posted by Paddy | December 31, 2008.

Because I have not posted for a while I thought I would start things off again with a series of posts detailing exactly how I put together a network of profitable websites from start to finish. For those who have purchased my Sleep Money System ™ eBook and have already purchased your hosting through WebhostingPad then you can use the same hosting account for your new websites. This tutorial will detail exactly how to put together a network of websites that generate 100% Passive Income. Once you see how easy it really is then you will be knocking out a new website every few days.

Remember, you need to actually put some work into this. If you don’t then you WILL NOT make any money! You will also need to to spend a little money on your hosting and domain name. I will also recommend two programs that you will also need to make your sites profitable. Of course you could use other software and hosting but I am recommending the very same tools I use myself.

My tutorial will cover: -

  • Finding a profitable niche
  • Choosing your target keywords
  • Choosing products & services that match your niche
  • Buying a domain name to match your keywords
  • Purchasing your hosting
  • Installing Wordpress & Choosing a theme
  • Installing & Setting up Wordpress SEO plugins
  • Configuring your site to highly target your keywords
  • Getting your site indexed within just a few days
  • Driving highly targeted traffic from surfers who are ‘Ready To Buy’
  • Setting your site to allow maximum passive income
  • How to replicate the success of your first site into other niches

My next post will be on the 3rd / 4th Jan 2009. You may want to purchase the following ready for part 2: -

1) Your Webhosting (Use coupon code ’savenow’ for a discount) - You can choose your domain later. I will show you how to transfer this to Webhosting pad. The domain will contain your keywords.
2) Directory Submission Software (this is needed - you will need the full product)
3) Social Bookmarking Software (this is needed)

I know there is a bit of an initial outlay but you will make your money back once your websites become profitable. Remember, this is an investment. Money and time spent now will be rewarded once your websites start bringing in the cash.

Please direct your questions to the comment section of this post and I will try to answer any questions during the ongoing tutorials.

Please feel free to subscribe to my feed at the top right hand corner to keep informed of my next post. Until Part 2….Good Luck!

SubmitEaze Review & SubmitEaze Discount

Posted by Paddy | October 12, 2008.

My honest SubmitEaze Review and a discussion on whether SubmitEaze Works or not.

NOTE: TheBigWebExperiment.com has negotiated with the SubmitEaze team an exclusive 10% discount when you order thought this link Link. Hurry, as this is a limited offer!

Ok, so it’s been a while since I have posted. I have to say, that I seem to get busier & busier each month. I always said that if I made enough money to stop working I would sit back and enjoy the fruits of my Passive Income Empire. Well, thats just not happening. The more money I seem to pull in every month makes me hunger for more. Is this greed? Well no! The simple fact is that I am addicted to the challenge.

One of my tasks at the moment is to find ways to get my websites indexed quicker and to raise their Google Page Rank (PR). Whenver I start out on a new project (i.e. a new money making website), once I have the site looking the way I want, I spend money on submitting the URL to 100’s (sometimes 1000’s) of website directories. This not only helps my new website get indexed but also over time raises the amount of backlinks to my website. These backlinks as you are well aware, helps raise you websites Google Page Rank which ultimatley increases your search position in Google.

So whats the problem with this?

Well, it’s simple. Each time I build a new website (and I can build up to 20+ a week) it can cost me $25 - $50 for the directory submissions as I outsource this task to a 3rd party. This may not sound a great deal of time when you have just one site but when you are building your Passive Income Empire it can become a bit costly. If you build just 10 new websites a week and submit these to directories using a 3rd part company this could cost you between $200 - $500 a week.

So whats the solution?

SubmitEaze has become one of the best tools in my toolbox. SubmitEaze is an application that sits on your desktop and allows you to submit your new website to 1000’s of web directories & article directories for free. It is semi automated so once you have setup your new website (url) as a project then all you need to do is enter the CAPTHA information on each submission. Another really useful feature of SubmitEaze is that the software keeps track of all your submissions per website so that you know which ones you have already submitted to. This of course means that whenever you have a spare moment you can keep going back and add your website(s) to more and more directories.

So what does all these mean?

Well, it means that I am saving $1000’s each and every month because I am not having to pay for my directory submission. If you are really serious in building your Passive Income Empire then this is a very crucial tool for you to have. The initial outlay will be made back very quickly as in the long run you will be saving yourself lots of money.

WebhostingPad Review

Posted by Paddy | July 13, 2008.

WebhostingPad Review - I always seem to have many projects on the go and I often need use different webhosts depending on the projects I am working on at the time. My two main webhosts that I use are Hostgator and WebhostingPad. The great thing about WebhostingPad is that you have unlimited storage space, unlimited domains and unlimited bandwidth to name but a few. This is great if like me you always seem to have numerous projects on the go and you need a host that will meet your needs as your websites and projects grow. When I first started out in Affiliate marketing and web design I was on a limited budget. I had lot’s of ideas for different sites but didn’t have the money to spend on buying domain names for all of my projects. WebhostingPad came in handy because I was able to buy a generic domain name and then build all of my different sites off the main domain name saving me money! I have not had any problems with down time apart from one time where one of my sites was down for about 10 minutes but this was over six months ago so their ‘uptime’ is very good indeed. I actually prefer these guys to Hostgator at the moment because of this.

Yo may want to take advantage of WebhostingPad’s free consulting service which offers: -

  • Free Setup of your website
  • Free Search Engine listing
  • Unlimited email consulting
  • Free website evaluation

I only ever recommend two webhosts (and beleive me when I say I have tried them all) and WebhostingPad is definately one of them.

USFreeads Review - Does USFreeads Work?

Posted by Paddy | April 16, 2008.

How do you fancy making easy money using USFreeads? I am going to tell you about my latest money making technique that I have been experimenting with for the last 2 - 3 months that will have you making passive income for a long time to come. About five or six weeks ago I posted an ad on USFreeads as an experiment not thinking that it would really generate any money for me. Boy was I wrong! I decided to upgrade my account to the premium $9.95 month so I could benifit from the additional exposure my ads would receive. Free accounts have limited exposure and therefore less potential customers for you. After just one day I made a sale from one of the affiliate products I were advertising at the time. I continued to make a sale the following day and two the next. The great thing about USFreeads is that you can have as many ads running at the same time as you want. I currently have over 70 ads running with most generating at least one sale per day! You can also use full html within your ad to make it as attractive as possible. You really need to signup to the premium package for $9.95 a month to run this many ads and get the exposure but as you can see it is well worth the money. I am now thinking of outsourcing the creation of new ads so I quickly double that!

Finding and using USFreeads has probably been my best move in Affiliate Marketing to date. I highly recommend giving them a try. What have you got to lose?

As you know I love to help people with the techniques I discuss as I know from personal experience that it can be a bit confusing when you first start out so please ask any questions and I will try to help. I welcome positive and negitive feedback!

PhpBay Review - Using PhpBay & eBay For Passive Income

Posted by Paddy | March 30, 2008.

If you have read my eBook you will know that one of my big money earners at the moment is eBay affiliate marketing. I have spent the last six months keeping busy and putting together lots of niche eBay blogs. I have been using Wordpress for my backend and the fantastic PhpBay plugin to extract live eBay listings into my blog posts. The great thing about PhpBay is that it is so easy to install and setup. It’s just a matter of adding the plugin into Wordpress and then adding a single line into your blog posts. Over the last six months I have setup over 100 Wordpress eBay blogs spread over many niches. The trick to really make money with this combination is to use eBay Pulse and drill down to find a really good niche. Once you have built one blog it is very easy to throw up another using the first as a template. If you havn’t seen PhpBay in action take a look at the current eBay listings below using ‘Batman Action’ Figures as an example niche: -

Cool eh? The above eBay listings show the the top five ‘Ending Soon’ auctions within the ‘Action Figures’ catagory. You can easily show 10, 15, 25 or any other number of items by just changing a few of the parameters.

You maybe thinking that building 100 eBay niche blogs is going to get very costly. After all your going to need a domain name and hosting for each one right? Well, you can go down that path but I certainly haven’t. To keep costs down I have been using subdomains for each niche blog. For example, all you need to do is buy a domain name such as myebaystuff.com and add a seperate subdomain per niche onto your primary domain name such as redsocks.myebaystuff.com and coolcartoys.myebaystuff.com. This way you keep the cost down. You will also need a good host to manage all your subdomains. I highly recommend WebHostingPad as you can host unlimited subdomains on your account. Something not offered by many other hosting comanies.

To create a successful Passive Income Empire with your eBay blogs you must remember to get some good quality backlinks to each site you create. I normally use SubmitEdge for each new eBay niche blog I setup. This way I ensure my sites get indexed and get some good quality links back to my sites. What you waiting for? Getting building those sites!
